So its yesterday by now since I got so occupied after the double event squeeze of San Francisco and New York. I revealed the new Playstation to a Facebook group to keep everyone up to date and then got engaged in conversations. Before I knew it I had to leave. Came back and started watch Azumanga DAIOU and playing Tekken.

The Playstation 4 Pro
I wasn't expecting this reveal to be honest. I thought it'd just be the new PS4 ("slim") being officially unveiled after all the internet videos that came out. The PS4 Pro is an updated bit of hardware. Its specs make it able to render high resolution graphics with more detail. I expect the HDR experience to be great since its a PS4 on steroids. But, it's not that flashy. It's just a touch up on the existing PS4. At least in specs. Surely not in looks. It renders in 4K, although I hear its not "real" 4K, meaning its not exactly 3840x2160. So there's upscaling. But there's even a little spat about 4K Blu-ray. So much so that Xbox took to Twitter 17 hours ago to boast about the One S' such capabilities that the PS4 Pro left out. Childish I think. One thing Playstation has maintained with the PS4 is that its gaming first. We all know Xbox's infamous Xbox One reveal where they went on and on about TV TV TV. Gamers don't give a crap about that. Is anyone going to miss 4K Blu-ray on the PS4 Pro? I sound like a butthurt fanboy. Haha. I'm not a PS fanboy anyway, but I do like Playstation a lot.
The previews of the PS4 Pro looked good on screen so I imagine they'll look even better in real life. The HDR and 4K resolution boost. The tech is nice. Its a small upgrade to present a bigger, better picture.

I took a screenshot of these while watching the event. Not that great but I hope you can feel the vibe I'm sharing.
My friend is really excited for this game, Horizon Zero Dawn. He gets overexcited anytime it's mentioned at a Playstation event.
It's weird. Its not the Super Saiyan Blue Playstation Neo everyone was hyped up about. But there's still something promising about it. Compared to the Xbox One S though, it seems out of it. Higher price tag, the 4K Blu-ray issue, not as beautiful. Maybe it's just the fanboy in me (considering I grew up with Playstation and not Xbox) But I'd still go for it over the One S. Like I said, I like Playstation. I want an Xbox One S, but I'd always take Playstation over Xbox. Lot of JRPGs don't happen on Xbox. That's just me.

This little guy on the left, the new PS4. We've seen this for about 2 weeks now. There was speculation about it being truly legit. Honestly, it's as The Know puts it, "the worst kept secret". We were calling it the "Slim", but it's official name... is the Playstation 4. I can't call the PS4 the "PS4 old" or the "original PS4." It's too much, so I'll keep calling this little guy "slim". It's cheaper for people who don't yet own a PS4. Comes with the updated controller too. But I don't like it very much. The PS4 launched in 2014... 2013 (USA) is sexy. Looked like an eraser at first but it's a beauty. This one.., not so much. Can't have price and beauty. Apple has taught us that.

For once, I disagree with Rich. ReviewtechUSA on YouTube slammed the new consoles. Mostly the "slim". The purpose of the slim is to reach new people and bring them into the community. It's cheaper for those who can't afford the other versions. He's saying that you shouldn't buy it and just wait it out for the Pro. Well Rich, sorry. But it's isn't so simple. Let's look at non-USA players. Like in the Caribbean. Sometimes importing REALLY, REALLY hurts. I mean arrow to the knee level where you do it once and say "Never me again!!" With the reduced price, it'll make it easier to purchase a PS4 in those areas. Hopefully. There's also the argument that people may not want the PS4 Pro. This is a legit argument for a casual gamer who just wants to play some God of War or Uncharted, doesn't care for 4K, and doesn't want to spend the cash for the main or advanced console. Phone manufacturers do it all the time. Samsung, Apple, LG, Motorola.
It's like this. the PS4 is an iPhone 6. The new PS4 is an iPhone SE. And the PS4 Pro is an iPhone 6s Plus (not even just a 6s lol). Believe it or not there's going to be a market for all 3 Playstation 4 models. ( I still want the PS4 that came out 3 years ago). Maybe not my place, but I think it'd have been better for Rich to say "If you can, hold out longer for the PS4 Pro". That may sound like more fanboying but like I said, there's a market for all models.
Now, if only the PS4 could get a sweet price cut. >:}

Sony gave Microsoft ye ole "F you..." MS claimed that this generation, ending on Scorpio would be the "last generation of consoles." Rude if you ask me. From the way they talk its like they just want to end console gaming and set the path of PC exclusivity. Probably why they poisoned the market when they introduced the DLC life and micro-transaction culture we're experiencing today. With the release of Pro, it's like Sony just said "sit down and shut up Xbox. We're not done here just yet."

I like what Microsoft is doing with their PC/Xbox "merger", but claiming the end of consoles when you're the youngest big hitter is out of place. Is another console war upon us? Current gen wasn't even a war. Nintendo didn't care to compete, Xbox fell on its face, and Playstation just pillaged everything in sight! I wonder what will be Playstation's response to Scorpio. I wonder what Nintendo's NX will be!!! We'll have to see.
